Aspen Neuroscience, a Parkinson’s disease cell therapy developer backed by Gilead, has filed for a Nasdaq IPO. Its lead program, sasineprocel, is an autologous cell therapy that uses a patient’s own induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to replace the dopamine-producing neurons lost in Parkinson’s.
Autologous iPSC-derived therapies are made from each patient’s own cells, which avoids immune rejection but makes manufacturing and logistics central to the approach. Parkinson’s has become one of the most closely watched targets for cell therapy.
The filing is one of several recent biotech IPOs and signals continued investor appetite for cell therapy despite a cautious funding market.
