Encoded Therapeutics has raised $275 million in a Series F financing to advance its gene therapy for Dravet syndrome, a severe genetic epilepsy that begins in infancy, and to move a second gene therapy candidate toward the clinic.
Dravet syndrome causes prolonged, difficult-to-control seizures alongside developmental delays. Encoded is developing a one-time, adeno-associated virus (AAV)-based gene therapy intended to address the underlying cause of the disease rather than manage its symptoms.
The round was co-led by GV and another healthcare fund, with participation from ARCH Venture Partners, Janus Henderson Investors, and Farallon Capital Management, among others.
