    • We are currently looking for a highly motivated Associate Scientist, specializing in AAV-based gene therapy to join our Process and Analytical Development team. The Associate Scientist, Process and Analytical Development is involved in Houston PAD lab startup activities, planning and executing development studies, technology transfers, new project implementation and execution in a timeline driven manner.
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to
      • Execution of initial lab startup activities, including new equipment acquisition, coordinating with various vendors for equipment installation and testing.
      • Order lab supplies / raw materials and maintain an inventory of materials/supplies.
      • Regular maintenance of lab equipment and ensure operational status; troubleshooting as needed.
      • Perform assays following protocols, such as qPCR, SDS-PAGE, capsid ELISA, and potency assays.
      • Plan and execute various development studies for viral vector process development and analytical development.
      • Plan and execute various development studies for viral vector process development and analytical development.
      • Perform data analysis and discuss unexpected/unusual findings with manager.
      • High level of accountability, integrity and communication.
      • Build strong, cohesive working relationships with colleagues across the company to accomplish goals.
      • Other duties as assigned
      • B.S. or M.S. in biology, biotechnology, engineering, or other gene therapy related field.
      • 0-4+ years for B.S. or 0-2+ years for M.S. of related experience in Biologics development, including antibody, and viral vectors (AAV, or lentiviral vector).
      • Strong history of working with viral vectors, preferably viral production, purification and / or characterization assays.
      • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in multi-disciplinary team work.
      • Understanding of basic laboratory equipment and aseptic techniques.
      • Mammalian cell culture (adherent or suspension) experience is required.
      • Experience in upstream or downstream process unit operations such as bioreactor, transfection, chromatography, tangential flow filtration or ultracentrifugation is preferred but not required.
      • Working knowledge of key assays used in viral vector release and characterization, including PCR, ELISA, SDS-PAGE and cell-based assays will be a strong plus.
      • Maintain good experimental documentation practices (hard copy and electronic notebook).
      • Proficient in MS Office suites of products.
      • Excellent communication skills.
      • Ability to multitask and work independently.
      • Timely report experimental problems to supervisor and capable of analyzing problems and finding solutions in collaborative efforts.
      • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism.
Work Conditions
      • Onsite location with occasionally sitting at a desk as well as frequently walking and standing in the lab to perform mix experiment work.
